Therapeutic Massage

Massage has been known to lower stress, increase immune function, boost mental health, manage pain and improve physical fitness (1). Jesse focuses on end results producing pain-free mobility and functionality which is acquired through a natural, healthy, and non-invasive way. This is not your typical fluff and buff massage.

Being trained in multiple massage practices, Jesse helps his clients get rid of chronic pain, move freely again, do activities they like that they haven’t previously been able to do, and also feel young again.

Physical athletes are able to train longer and harder which aids them in reaching their goals sooner. With Jesse’s massage, athletes have been able to avoid and/or reverse injuries. Jesse has worked with gymnasts, ultra runners, body builders, triathlon racers, and other competitive athletes.

Medical/Orthopedic Massage

Medical massage is outcome-based massage, primarily the application of a specific treatment targeted to the specific problem the patient presents with a diagnosis and are administered after a thorough assessment/evaluation by the medical massage therapist with specific outcomes being the basis for treatment. – Wikipedia

What is the difference between Therapeutic Massage and Medical/Orthopedic Massage?

Therapeutic Massage is your general spa type massage with deeper pressure and is focused on relaxation of the mind and tissues. 

Medical/Orthopedic Massage is focused on fixing and aligning your body so your body can fully function to its best performance. This is brought about through the use of multiple modalities and tools, all of which are included in the cost of the visit and are determined by your practitioner.

Medical/Orthopedic massages includes time for assessments, treatment, and follow-up care.


Lymphatic Drainage

The lymph system is like our body’s sewer system. It helps get rid of cellular waste so that our cells can function at optimal performance. 

This is a lighter style of massage and is meant to help with swelling of the limbs and/or in speeding up recovery of physical traumas such as are had from bruises, post-surgery, and post-sickness to name just a few uses.



Cupping pulls instead of pushes. During a typical massage the therapist plushes down on you or adds pressure which incites the body to relax and send resources to help heal the area up.

In cupping the therapist elicits a suction on an area to pull blood and heat to that area of the body. This has a three-fold effect: 

  1. It pulls blood to the area which brings nutrients to help heal the tissues that have been stressed or constricted.
  2. With the blood it brings heat which is known to cause relaxation to muscles and fascia, thus loosening the area.
  3. Cupping has been shown to help some people alleviate pain and even be able to take more massage pressure to help loosen up tight tissues.

Jesse uses glide cups and does a mixture of gliding cupping and stationary cupping.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is a form of body work that breaks down tight fascia on a very cellular level. This means its very encompassing in that it breaks everything down facially concerned. In Asian medicines it is said that Gua Sha breaks down tissues and that “shaw” is shown. The less “shaw” a person has the healthier their energy flows and the better their overall health.

I have personally experienced this with my forearms. I once went without massage for multiple months (and I need massage weekly because I use my hands and forearms chronically every day) and got so sore I worried a tendon was going to snap from tightness. A fantastic therapist performed Gua Sha on my forearms and not only did my pain get relieved, but I also got mobility and functionality back. It took a couple of days for healing, but the results lasted weeks and were very effective.

Is it painful? Entirely so! This is one of the most painful modalities I offer and have personally experience myself. BUT- the results are worth it if you want long lasting relief and mobility.

Does it cause bruising? It can. Bruising isn’t a bad thing as it helps break tissues down and allows the body to clean out the area and create flow again. If you don’t like pain, or deal with fluid retention, this modality is not for you. But, if you’re serious about gaining back mobility and loosening up areas of your body, this is the perfect ad-on.

Hot Stones

This is massage that includes the use of stones that have been heated to help relax and loosen the body. Heat brings blood to the area as well as liquefies fascia tissue causing a release of tension to the area. 

Using hot stones can help make massage not hurt as bad. Using hot stones can also get a person similar results that a deep tissue, trigger point massage can give, but not include all the pain getting there.

Fascia Blast Massage Gun

Some people like to be freed up mechanically versus an elbow. Massage guns do great work with breaking down fascia while also feeling mildly good. Add one to your massage to feel the difference.

I often say that if massage can’t get it out a good stretch will! (And vice versa) Stretching is so important in helping lengthen out muscles. In today’s society we are often forced into doing the same physical thing over and over again day after day. This causes chronic pain and also chronic shortening of muscle tissues. 

A lot of pain can be had from chronically shortened muscles. Eventually the bones will follow the trend of the muscles and this can create problems such as experiencing pinched nerves and/or bad posture.

Stretching can reduce bad posture and help with pain, and mobility.

When you order only a stretch session, only book a 30 minute or 60 minute session.

To have this included with a massage, book a 90 minute session and tell Jesse you would like 30 minutes of stretching and a hour of massage. Stretching and massage go hand in hand like cheese and wine (except that massage is better than wine :P).
